Lynn McAllister is joining the Amos Trust ‘Just Walk to Jerusalem’ to call for equal rights in the Holy Land
Lynn McAllister from Ainsdale is joining Amos Trust, a small creative human rights organisation to call for full and equal rights for everyone who calls Palestine and Israel home by taking part in Just Walk to Jerusalem.
Just Walk to Jerusalem is a bold initiative marking the centenary of the Balfour Declaration and 50 years of military occupation of the Palestinian Territories, and to call the UK government to action to honour its one-hundred-year-old pledge to safeguard Palestinian rights. On 2nd November 1917, the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary, Arthur James Balfour declared:
“His Majesty’s Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine.”
The seeds of today’s injustice – inequality and violence – were sown by the Balfour Declaration in 1917. Amos Trust will mark the anniversary with an act of solidarity and a call for peace with justice.
Lynn is joining the 2,000 mile modern day pilgrimage from London to Jerusalem for 84 days from 10th June 2017 as it makes its way from London to Ancona and for 14 days from 20th October as it makes its way from Amman to Jerusalem
Lynn says:
“I’m really excited about joining the Just Walk. It’s a way to show my solidarity with the Palestinian people who continue to suffer in a situation, which Britain played a big part in creating. This is a peaceful way to draw attention for the need for equal rights for all who live in Israel-Palestine.”
“This Walk means a lot to me because it is a simple act for peace and a means of highlighting the ongoing injustice suffered by the Palestinian people, whose perspective is often lacking in international discourse.
The entire Walk takes place between June and November 2017 and will follow ancient pilgrimage routes across southern England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Turkey and finally Jordan, where the walkers will enter Jerusalem from the West Bank on 2nd November 2017, one hundred years on from Balfour’s Declaration.

The continued occupation and theft of Palestinian land on the West Bank cannot continue. The siege of Gaza must end. As the walkers enter the Holy Land they will walk with and listen to Amos Trust’s Christian, Jewish and Muslim partners and friends who are working towards justice and reconciliation.
