A fire has ripped through woodland inside scale devestating wildlife

a spokesperson for the Ainsdale Nature Reserve and Ribble Estuary nature reserve said “We are saddened to say that an area of the reserve at #Ainsdale #NNR suffered damage from a fairly large fire last weekend, which was potentially started by a campfire.

Firefighters and Natural England staff worked hard to bring it under control and we have been monitoring the situation since. Ensuring that the areas affected continue to smoulder and making these safe.

Dry weather and a dry covering of pine needles in the woodlands means it only takes one spark to start a fire, CAMPFIRES AND BARBECUES ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED throughout the NNR.

Help us to protect the reserve, its visitors and the wildlife – if you see smoke, fire or people acting carelessly with fire please contact our office on 01704578774. ”
