A Merseytravel driver shortage has caused the temporary cancellation of the Ainsdale school bus service to and from Range High School in Formby.
An email from Headmaster Mike McGarry was sent to parents on Tuesday.
Mr McGarry said: “This message is only intended for students who use the Formby/Ainsdale school bus service. I have just been informed by Merseytravel that they have reached a position in terms of driver absence related to Covid-19 where they can no longer provide our dedicated bus service in the morning or afternoon. Please be aware that this is something that we as a school have no control over.
“For this afternoon and for the afternoons the rest of this week, I have been able to arrange for some of our staff to use the school minibus to get your child home. Mr Dolly will brief your children at the end of the school day today. Unfortunately, I will not be able to offer this service in the morning time.
“I appreciate this is very late notice, but I have only just been notified. I will update you later in the week when I have further news from the travel company about the normal bus service can resume. This will depend on their staff situation and I will keep you informed accordingly.”
