A Southport pedophile pub boss jailed
A sex offender used a fake video of a ‘handsome man’ to trick young girls into exposing themselves.
John Fahey who managed a popular Lord Street pub pretended he was a semi-naked young man in the footage, who could be seen performing sex acts.
But in reality he was a 39-year-old with a stash of 972 indecent images of children on his computer.
Liverpool Crown Court heard police raided his home in Bowling Green Close, Southport at around 8.30am on January 12 last year.
Christopher Taylor, prosecuting, said Fahey immediately confessed: “I’ve been downloading illegal material. Sexual material.”
When interviewed afterwards, he revealed he had downloaded the video clip of what he described as “a handsome man”.
Police seized his computer which was found to contain 27 Category A – the most serious category – indecent images.
There were a further 394 Category B files, 581 Category C pictures and two extreme images showing bestiality.
Officers also discovered evidence of conversations with two 15-year-old girls on a website called Omegle.
It allows people to chat via webcam with random users – akin to chat roulette – without the need to register.
One recording showed Fahey talking to a girl who told him she was 15, before he said he wished he could see her breasts.
He uploaded the footage of the “handsome male” and continued to ask her to expose herself, but the call was disconnected.
A second recording revealed he asked another girl who said she was 15 to do the same, but again the call was disconnected.
Mr Taylor said neither of the victims could be identified by police,
Fahey, Southport, admitted two counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity.
He also pleaded guilty to three counts of downloading and one count of possessing indecent images of children, plus possessing extreme images.
Judge Denis Watson, QC, said the offences were aggravated by Fahey’s “deception” in shielding his true identity.
He said the matter was serious because “this was real interaction with two 15-year-old girls” and handed him six months in prison.
The judge gave Fahey a seven-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and told him to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years.
