A royal seal of approval for Southport station 

Southport station had a touch of royal class after the Queen’s very own train pulled into the station this morning.

The Royal carriages, which were stand out against the grim Northern Rail pacer trains and glowing yellow Merseyrail services, had been chartered from London Euston for a private party to be ferried from the capital to the Open Golf tournament.

It will only be at Southport station for a few more hours and will return to London later this evening.
