A Peter Kay lookalike from Birkdale has met his idol on stage

Rob Frain has had to endure endless shouts of ‘garlic bread’, ‘Cheesecake’, renditions of ‘(Is This The Way to) Amarillo’ and a whole host of Peter Kay’s famous one-liners – due to the fact that he bears an uncanny resemblance to the Bolton born funny man.

His fellow staff members and pupils at Burscough Science College, where he works as an IT manager, are often pointing out the likeness, leaving Rob no choice but to embrace the role – he even performed Amarillo at a recent concert to delight the audience!

Now Rob has had the chance to meet Peter face to face on stage at a recent Q&A session in Blackpool, with the comedian inviting Rob on stage upon learning of his Doppelganger.

Rob had submitted an audience question prior to the show asking Peter ‘ I often get mistaken for you; I want to know do you ever get annoyed when people shout garlic bread or cheesecake?’

A delighted Peter read out the question before pausing to ask where Rob was in the audience, before inviting up on stage for a photo.

The audience cheered when the duo got together and took a photograph – with Rob saying he was delighted to meet his hero!

Peter joked: “I hope he’s not doing a tribute act! He’ll be charging more than I do.

“The likeness is scary and I’m rather glad he’s not enormous!

Rob, from Birkdale, said afterwards: “It was great to meet Peter as I’m a big fan.

“Although I was only on stage for a minute or two it was great to come face to face with im and grab a quick selfie!

“I’d asked him if he ever gets annoyed by people shouting garlic bread or cheesecake to him becuase I get that a lot!

“I work at Burscough Priory Science College and since I started 12 years ago the students and staff all say I look like him!

“I’ve even done ‘the Amarill’o on stage for a concert a few years back!”
