78-year-old man falls from bed impaling himself on a wardrobe hook

A pensioner was taken to hospital after falling from his bed and impaling himself on a wardrobe hook.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said a team were sent to the 78-year-old man’s home in Albert Roads at 1.22am this morning, Monday January 1.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene, where he was lifted upwards off the hook, the spokesman said Merseyside Fire And Rescue said.

The pensioner was then taken to nearby Southport hospital in an ambulance.
