It has been predicted that there’s statistically more chance of scoring eighteen holes-in-one than there is of getting a hotel in Southport later this month.

Nearly every hotel in the town is totally booked out for the British Open Championships in July, meaning many tourists will have to be turned away or stay out of town if they want to watch the tournament at the last minute.

The extra economy boost that the Open will bring to the town is expected to reach millions and excited shop owners are already prepping for what they hope is a bumper week of trading.

The eyes of the world will descend on Southport in two weeks, but for hoteliers here, it feels like the world is already staying here!

Three hotels still have vacancies, however asking massively inflated prices including Pontins and The Bold hotel on Lord Street.
