New York is an iconic location for many reasons. From the famous city skyline to the bustling streets and squares – it’s easily one of the most recognisable cities in the world. It’s also a very popular destination for business travel and corporate events.
From the widely publicised corporate culture, as seen in films like The Wolf of Wall Street, to local street vendors and independent coffee shops, New York is where business happens. So, what are some things to consider if you are gearing up for a business trip to ‘The Big Apple’?
Transport
If you are flying into New York, you will need to get to the city from one of 3 airports – JFK, LaGuardia or Newark. Transport by taxi, bus or subway are all viable options to get into the city centre. Once in and around the centre of New York City, you should be able to walk to most places if you are able to – otherwise, taxis are always about to give you a lift.
Accommodation
If you’re in New York for the full corporate experience, you’ll want to ensure that your accommodation reflects that. New York is home to a range of luxury serviced apartments that will give you a taste of the Wall Street lifestyle, as well as providing a comfortable and spacious stay. If you’re out and about at meetings or conferences during the day, a serviced apartment will provide a functional space to cook, work and relax in your spare time.
Leisure Activities
You’ll obviously want to have some personal time whilst in New York to soak up the sights and atmosphere. General sightseeing is always a good idea, especially if you’ve never been before. You can see the view from the top of the Rockefeller centre, venture through Central Park or walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. No matter where your accommodation is, there should be something of interest fairly close to you. New York is also home to a bustling nightlight, with various theatres, bars and restaurants where you can eat and drink to your hearts content.
Be Prepared
New York is a unique and slightly intimidating place at times, so be prepared for all that it offers. Be wary of scams, be careful with your belongings and don’t stand in the middle of the sidewalk. You need to move at New York’s pace if you are a visitor, so be prepared for a crazy, yet unforgettable experience.
