Over £500 has been raised in memory of Southport man Paul Carapanagiotu after he died last year.
Paul’s family ‘travelled’ to the island of Kefalonia – one of Paul’s favourite places – and cycled the entire 304 miles it took to travel around the island in aid of the CALM campaign.
In reality they were actually on pedal bikes based at Marshside Health Club.
The event was organised by Paul’s daughter-in-law Amy Carapanagiotu.
She said: “It was held in memory of Paul, from Southport, who we lost in March 2016 in tragic circumstances.
“We were raising money and awareness for CALM Charity – Campaign Against Living Miserably, for men suffering with depression.
“ Via our Just Giving page and paper donations we have raised in excess of our £500 target for the charity.
“The challenge was for a group of us to cycle the distance of the Island of Kefalonia – 304 miles. Kefalonia was very dear to Paul, he spent many happy times in his second home there and often dreamt of retiring on the Island. We completed the challenge in just over 3 hours.
“Afterwards in Paul’s memory Amy and Andy, Paul’s son, let some balloons go.
