An 18-Year-Old Southport Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Possession Of A Firearm

Merseyside Police can confirm three people have been arrested and a loaded firearm has been recovered after a warrant was executed at a house in Formby last night, Wednesday, 25 February.
Officers executed the warrant at a house on Bolton Road at around 11pm.  An extensive search of the property was carried out and a small black handgun was recovered.The house remains cordoned off and searches are continuing today, Thursday, 26 February.The handgun has been recovered for further examination and an investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing.

An 18-year-old man from Southport and two 17-year-old males from Formby were arrested at the property on suspicion of possession of a firearm.  They have been taken to a police station on Merseyside where they are being questioned by detectives.

Detective Inspector Richie Jones, Matrix Serious Organised Crime, said: “The handgun that has been recovered will be subject to further examination but at this stage we believe it is a viable weapon.

“This was an excellent find and a potentially lethal firearm has now been taken off the streets.

“I would like to take this opportunity to reassure communities throughout Sefton that we will be relentless in our efforts to tackle serious and organised crime and bring those who use or store firearms to justice.
