Our Dad (Dave) was diagnosis with stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma Cancer in December 2018. Although he had cancer a couple of years back it was a shock to the system. In January 2019 he started receiving treatment (Immunotherapy) for his cancer from Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. The treatment is still ongoing but has been working to reduce the tumours.
This past year has been a difficult year but Clatterbridge Cancer Centre have been extremely supportive. To give an example; on dad’s birthday in April, he was admitted to hospital following some side-effects of the treatment and they made him feel comfortable when in hospital. They even made him a birthday hat.
Myself and Emily (my sister) want to do our part in helping out and helping the charity that are treating our dad. We are completing a 12 hour sail around the Marine Lake in Southport (6 hours each) and asking for people to volunteer to come out with us for 20 minutes and come back and have a BBQ with a donation of £10 towards the charity. Myself and Emily are also being sponsored for the 12 hours of sailing and any donation small or big, will go a long way and mean a lot, not just to our family but to the charity as well. Please see the below link if you would like to commit to 20 minutes of sailing or why not pop down to Southport Sailing Club during the day and enjoy a variety of activities and BBQ.
