Emergency services were called to Hesketh Park in Southport early this morning following the discovery of a man’s body.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that they received a report at around 5:30 am on Friday, October 11, after a man in his 50s was found deceased in the park. Paramedics attended the scene, but sadly, the man was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police have stated that the death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner. Authorities believe the man was of Latvian origin, and efforts are underway to trace his next of kin.
A police cordon has been established in Hesketh Park, and officers remain at the scene as part of ongoing investigations. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm emergency services are at Hesketh Park in Southport this morning Friday October 11.
“Just before 5.30am we received a report that a body of a man in his 50s was found in the park and was sadly pronounced deceased.
“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
“We believe the man is Latvian and we are in the process of tracing his next-of-kin.
“A scene is currently in place while officers remain in the area.”
