Body found in Hesketh Park believed to be local man aged 50

Body found in Hesketh Park, Southport.

Police believe the man is a 50 year-old from the local area but a formal identification has yet to take place.

At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

The park has reopened but a scene remains.

Emergency services were called to Hesketh Park, Southport at around 8.30am after a body was discovered in the water (Monday 29 May).

Police and fire service are currently on the scene (08:45am).

The body of a man, believed to be in his 60s, was recovered from the water by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.

The park has been closed to the public.

No further information is available at the moment however OTS News will have an official police update shortly.
